On Wedenesday November 29th 2017, the Harvard University celebrated the topping out ceremony of the new Science and Engineering Complex, located on Harvard University’s emerging Allston campus and planned by Behnisch Architekten Boston. The building integrates one of the country’s most diverse and exciting engineering programs into a single 497,000-square-foot structure.
The WAF (World Architecture Festival) takes place from November 15th to 17th in the Arena Berlin. On Wednesday 15th Stefan Rappold, partner of the Stuttgart office is part of the jury judging the “Completed Buildings Office category”.
On the opening day of the “Messe Schulbau” in Munich, Robert Hösle, partner of Behnisch Architekten Munich takes part in the “Architekten Slam”. Five architects are invited to present their statements in response to the following title: “Good educational buildings are…” (“Guter Bildungsbau ist…”) After a short presentation the audience is requested to judge the contributions.
On September 19th, 2017 the Grand Opening of the Karl Miller Center, Portland State University was celebrated with an official ceremony. All donors, students, alumni, faculty and community members were welcome.
On September 14th, 2017 the opening of the Dorotheen Quartier was celebrated with an official ceremony. The three mixed-use buildings planned by our Stuttgart office are already in use since the end of May and include small-scale retail, offices and urban living. The whole area contributes to activating the urban life in the City Centre.
The university is currently building a new campus. At the heart of this campus is the Metropolitan Sheptytsky Information Research Center, planned by our Stuttgart office in collaboration with AVR Development Lviv, which includes a library for the humanities, academic and research spaces, and public spaces that serve the community. The term of openness plays a major architectural role in the design of the building.
Our Stuttgart office has received a recognition for the competition of the Wolfgang-Borchert-Schule in Berlin-Spandau. Twelve invited architects, in cooperation with a landscape architect, presented their ideas and concepts for the expansion, renovation and modification of the existing school building split up on two locations. The design should bring all functions together at one location.
The competition site is a former industrial area near the center of Ulm. It shall become a lively district hosting the new headquarter of the Transporeon GmbH. In total around 15.000m² are planned to provide new office spaces and complementary usage which at the same time offer a friendly work environment and a representative address for the market leader Transporeon.
