MAX High-Rise

Frankfurt (Main), Germany

Today, a building rising to 200 m no longer offers any serious technical difficulties. Stability, structure, emergency staircases, climate envelope, etc. must function, but may appear very restrained in design terms. By contrast, other architectural aspects can evolve, assuming greater prominence.

The task was to create an interesting landmark. In such surroundings, however, volume and height alone could hardly impress. Many high-rises of differing quality already are in Frankfurt’s downtown.

Through both the tower’s aesthetic value and characteristic form, it should become readily evident that other forces are at play here than those usually expected with high-rises.
