The Deming Place Project is a six-level, 22 unit luxury condominium complex located near Chicago’s Lincoln Park. The site is in a dense residential neighborhood surrounded by a mix of eclectic apartment buildings near the shores of Lake Michigan. In this project the client has chosen to pursue an environmentally sustainable approach to building in the city. Among other conditions, this includes a sophisticated façade and light well design for optimal daylighting, the design of a geothermal heat system and radiant heating and cooling at the perimeter of each unit.

The challenge of this project will be to create a structure that is not only suited to the harsh climate of Chicago but also approaches the architecturally rich context of the neighborhood by responsibly adding a distinctive new building. Therefore the design of the building respects the scale of the neighborhood and utilizes commonly found façade materials in a playful and unconventional manner.
