On October 1 we celebrated the grand opening of the Student Housing in Regensburg. Gerlinde Frammelsberger, the managing director of student services in Niederbayern Oberpfalz, welcomed the guests. Dr. Michael Mihatsch, the assistant secretary of the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Cultural Affairs, Science and Art, Dr. Thomas Burger, the deputy lord mayor, Udo Hebel, the president of the University of Regensburg, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Baier, the president of the OTH Regensburg, and Stephan Leissle from Behnisch Architekten gave speeches.
Afterwards there were guided tours through the residential units. The student representative reported that all students, who moved in three months prior, are very enthusiastic about the apartments and especially appreciate the common areas, which give the students the opportunity to get to know each other even while keeping a social distance. The student housing offers 163 apartments with a total of 204 beds.
