03 October, 2018

On the 3rd of October in Lausanne Behnisch Architekten celebrated the inauguration of the AGORA Pôle de recherche sur le cancer.

More than 300 people took part in the event, three councilors of the canton of Vaud were among them Cesla Amarelle, Pierre-Yves Maillard and Pascal Broulis, who were also joined by their colleague from the canton of Geneva Mauro Poggia.
During his speech Francis-Luc Perret, director of the ISREC (Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research) underlined the importance of the building as the goal of an idea that goes back to 1964, when the founder of the ISREC Henri Isliker envisioned an experimental oncology building. Catherine Labouchère, president of the ISREC foundation, added that they are very pleased to offer the building to the researchers.
One of the main goals of the building is the promotion of information exchange between the 300 researchers that will work under its roof, and ensure that the research is translational, as professor Franco Cavalli, Chair of the Scientific Council of ISREC, said in his speech.
The construction of the building, which started in 2015 and went on for 33 months, is a result from the partnership between the CHUV (Centre hospitalier universitaire Vaudois), the HUG ( Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève), the University of Lausanne, the University of Geneva, EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer.
