What innovations in construction can lead to smarter, more resource-conscious buildings?
The upcoming half-day sia conference "Low Emission No Emission" takes a closer look at this question – with practical project examples, expert input, and interdisciplinary exchange. Our partner Angie Müller-Puch, will share insights into the Smart Living Lab project.
The Smart Living Lab, located in the emerging blueFACTORY district in Fribourg (Switzerland), provides space for experimental, interdisciplinary research in the field of resource-efficient construction. The building serves both as a research facility and as a research instrument for the development of new climate-neutral construction methods. Experimental areas and transparent workspaces, combined with integrated winter gardens and a rooftop terrace, create an inspiring research environment. Together with a central atrium, these spaces can be adapted to seasonal changes and make optimal use of passive resources such as daylight and natural ventilation. The modular façade is also a key element of this adaptive concept.
The result is a building that responds to current and future climate conditions as well as to diverse user needs – a true Smart Living Lab.
