The Holistic Building Envelope: The Vagelos Laboratory for Energy Science, and Technology with Michelle Lee

19 February, 2024

The Vagelos Laboratory for Energy Science, and Technology features an innovative facade that was planned from the inside out. Beginning with the early site strategy, program arrangement, the facade was planned to holistically maximize daylight, optimize thermal performance, prioritize user comfort and control, and express the mission of energy research to the public at this prominent gateway to the University of Pennsylvania’s campus.

Join us and learn more about early site strategy, building enclosure, and thermal performance. With Michelle Lee of Behnisch Architekten and Shaun Patchell, Engineering Specialist at L.F. Driscoll Co

Learning Objectives:

  • Follow and learn the facades role in enabling a holistic sustainable environment featuring low-energy radiant heating and cooling and natural ventilation.
  • Explore the concept of Life Cycle Assessment and Circularity Research in material selection.
