On Wednesday, September 21st 2022 we celebrated the topping out ceremony for the EDGE ElbSide building, the new headquarter of Vattenfall in the HafenCity of Hamburg.

EDGE ElbSide is Germany's tallest building using the so-called slim-floor-construction method. By using hollow prestressed concrete ceilings and steel composite beams at the same level as the ceiling, almost 50 percent of CO2 emissions are saved compared to conventional ceilings in cast-in-place concrete. In addition, the energy-optimised building will use renewable energy sources and photovoltaics and offer an intelligent e-mobility infrastructure for sustainable working and commuting. The smart building technology will use a variety of efficient digital solutions to further minimize its own ecological footprint and also maximize the well-being of its users.
