On Friday, June 7, we celebrated the Topping Out Ceremony of our Schwaketenbad, a public swimming pool complex in Constance, Germany. The event was open to the public with the Bädergesellschaft Constance providing food and drinks.
Mayor Uli Burchardt and the Managing Director of the Stadtwerke, Dr. Norbert Reuter, gave speeches both recalling July 4, 2015 when the Schwaketenbad almost completely burned down. Soon thereafter, the City of Constance decided to construct this new, larger building.
Significant areas of the building can already be recognized, such as the steel structure of the roof and the 20 m high diving tower. The opening is scheduled for early Summer 2020. When completed the complex will accomodate six swimming pools, four water slides, a steam bath, extensive relaxation and recreation areas and a restaurant.
