Level 5
The office spaces are located on the fifth floor of the original Stuttgart headquarters at Rathausplatz, one floor above one of the largest department stores in Germany. In its previous state, the office area lacked unity, comprising a collection of different building elements, annexes, and refurbished components.
The redesigned offices feature a welcoming reception area, while a yellow path guides users through the open plan workspace, connecting the annexed work areas and punctuating the layout with informal communication zones that also serve as additional meeting points. The meeting and conference rooms are designed as autonomous, mobile elements within the office landscape. The only defining wall elements in the otherwise open area are the newly-clad stairwells, highlighted in Breuninger’s corporate orange.

In response to a variety of workspace requirements, we developed a special modular cabinet system for Breuninger, designed to adapt to the varying needs of departments such as buying and marketing. Employees can set up their individual workstations using a personal rolling drawer unit and an open, stationary cupboard, available with either open shelves or a clothes rail, both adjustable in height and adaptable to specific needs. Suspended sliding elements, designed for sample boards, further support a clear and flexible workplace design. Sensitive areas, such as the HR department, are separated by translucent acoustic wall units, which can be repositioned along a rail system.
