The new indoor swimming pool in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen is conceived as a modern sports and family facility that integrates diverse user groups while creating a strong connection to its green surroundings. The design combines functional clarity with an open, landscape-oriented bathing experience.

Replacing the outdated existing facility, the new building accommodates sports, school, and public use with clearly separated yet interconnected areas. The program includes a multipurpose pool with diving, a flexible pool, a family zone, and an expanded sauna with terrace.

The design integrates the building into the surrounding green space, avoiding an isolated object and instead creating a coherent bathing landscape. Sculptural roof forms structure the volumes and define interior zones while maintaining openness and visual connections to the outdoors. A transparent facade towards the west reinforces the connection to the landscape, creating the impression of a bathing hall immersed in nature. Outdoor terraces and green areas extend the user experience beyond the building. Clear circulation and functional zoning ensure intuitive orientation and allow separate access for schools, clubs, and public users. Central spaces provide visual connections across all pool areas.

The structure is based on prefabricated timber construction, reducing construction time and storing CO₂. The energy concept focuses on minimizing demand through compact volume, high insulation, passive solar gains, and natural ventilation, complemented by renewable systems such as photovoltaics and solar thermal energy.
