Campushaus Halle-Neustadt

Halle-Neustadt, Germany

The Campushaus in Halle-Neustadt is envisioned as a vibrant hub for education, innovation, and community. More than a building, it becomes a catalyst for collaboration, bringing together students, professionals, and residents in an open and inspiring environment. Its architecture embraces surrounding schools, neighborhoods, and green spaces, creating an inviting address with generous communal areas, flexible workshops, a winter garden, and a light-filled foyer. At the heart of the project lies a strong commitment to sustainability: existing structures are preserved and reinterpreted, dismantled components reused, and ecological materials such as timber integrated throughout. Green roofs and façades, together with the protection of mature trees, reinforce the connection to the natural setting while reducing the ecological footprint.

The concept of the Campushaus is structured around three core modules: Advisory Services (CAMPUS-Beratung), Workshop Hall (CAMPUS-Werkhalle), and Laboratories (CAMPUS-Labor). Each represents a distinct focus area, from guidance and co-working to practical making and repair, and further to experimental research and digital creation. At the center lies synergy, the interaction space where these spheres overlap and mutually reinforce one another. The advisory unit provides orientation and connection, the workshop hall enables hands-on learning and innovation, and the laboratories open opportunities for scientific exploration. Together they form a holistic ecosystem that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, empowers users of all ages, and strengthens the social and educational fabric of Halle-Neustadt.

The design is conceived as both adaptive and resilient, fostering exchange and synergies while allowing for future transformation. The Campushaus is more than an educational facility: it is an educational object in itself, demonstrating how responsible architecture can shape the future. Embodying the values of sustainability, innovation, and community, it establishes a new landmark for Halle-Neustadt where learning and civic life can flourish together.
